Registrars Office, Timaru May 13th 1869 Sir I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No 572 April 28th 1869 stating that I solemenized a marriage (N49) which was to have been solemnized at the Presbyterian church Timaru by the Revd. George Barclay. In explanation I beg to state that as certificates of Marriage are aforesaid to all other Officiating Ministers of the District as well as to the Minister named I considered I was able as Registrar to Solemnize the Marriage with the same certificate. For the future I will take care that the error does not occur again. I beg have to return the December return of notices with the difficiency supplied.
